Yes, social media helps to amplify our connection but what’s the point of connecting if it’s superficial?

In today’s video I want to talk to you about a principle that has existed in business for such a long time, yet I think we overlook it’s importance.

This is a skill that, irrespective of whether you have a business or not, is going to pay massive dividends to you in your life, whether it’s financially, spiritually, emotionally, physically; this is something that will really enhance the quality of your life.

So what is this incredible skill? Okay, here it is.

The skill to connect with people.

It is profound for your life, because that’s how we grow, that’s how we gather together in community, but more importantly for this video, when it comes to your business, you connecting and engaging with people is going to help you to grow your business.

30 years ago we didn’t have the internet. Before then, we had different ways of communicating and connecting with our audience.

And I think, that truth be told, in the age of social media, we have got a little lazier about connecting with people on a deep level.

So, if you are thinking about how you can grow your business and you’re getting frustrated and thinking, “I need to do a Facebook ad“…”I need to post more in Instagram” Or “I need to write another blog post for LinkedIn.”

And your head is just full things that you have to do that all take up a lot of your time, here is my simple strategy that will help to make your business so much more productive.

It’ll flow better and it won’t take up a huge amount of your time.

Connection is the answer!

You may be forgiven for thinking that it will take too much of your time.

It doesn’t have to be that way though.

I want to encourage you to adopt the strategy or the approach where you connect with one person every single day.

It’s just five people a week!

All you have to do is drop them a quick note, it might be on Facebook messenger, a text message, an email. It is just you staying in touch with people.

It could be that you find someone that you really want to connect with on LinkedIn and so you drop them a message to invite them to connect with you, or, it could be someone that you already have a relationship with and you just want to check in with them and say, “Hey, do you fancy a virtual coffee?”.

Irrespective of how you do this, connecting with just one person every single day means five people every week…twenty people every month!

Think about how many people those people know and how many people those people know…what happens is when you engage with people, your engagement will create ripple effects and it will start to bring opportunities, people, new clients and new prospects into your world, because you are doing something that comes very naturally to human beings and that is the skill of connecting.

The key is knowing that you are connecting, not from a space of ‘what can I get?’, but ‘what can I give?’.
