Hello, lovely, it’s Yasmin Vorajee from Tiny Time Big Results, Today we are going to look at the question of lead magnets.

Do you really need a lead magnet?

If you’re not clear on what a lead magnet is, it’s your lead generator. It’s the offer that you put out there that allows someone to put their hand up and say, ‘Yasmin, I’m really interested in finding out more’.

When you’re growing your audience, when you’re marketing, you’re podcasting, you’re doing Facebook Lives, you’re recording blogs, and all of those great things, or when you’re going to networking or speaking, you’re broadcasting your message.

What you want to know is, is it landing with people? You want to put something out there that they can opt-in to get through an exchange of email and so that you can understand and determine who those prospects are and you can identify them and then you can communicate with them.

That’s all it really is.

Imagine that you’ve got a crowd of a thousand people and you offer them something, like ‘here’s my free checklist‘ or ‘here’s my free video series’, and you get a hundred people putting their hands up. They’re the people that you want to grab a hold of and be able to talk to them, get to know them and like them and for them to get to know you, like you and trust you.

That’s what a lead magnet does.

So your answer to do I need a lead magnet?

YES!

And there’s a couple of reasons for that.

First of all, if the only lead magnet that you have in your business is for someone to book a call with you, then actually that’s quite a high-risk activity for that person.

They may not be ready to book a call, but if that’s the only option that they have, then what happens is they kind of come into your world and they see all the great stuff that you have and the only call to action is to book a call, and they’re thinking, ‘I’m not ready to do that just yet’.

So they go out of your world. And the problem is that it can be very unlikely that they come back in again unless you’re vociferous in the way that you’re getting out there.

But once they’re in the first time, you really want to build a rapport and relationship. And that’s what a lead magnet does, because whilst booking a call can be seen as a high-risk activity, giving an email address in exchange for a report or a video series or a guide can be seen as very low risk.

So all I’m doing is giving you my email address, and that’s fine, and I can unsubscribe whenever I want.

It’s very, very low risk.

And that’s what the lead magnet is designed to do is for you to be able to do that exchange of value for the email address, and now we get to know each other.

The key thing here is, and I think the reason why I hear ‘do I really need a lead magnet?’, is, ‘It’s gonna take too much time’.

It feels overwhelming.

And the reality is it really doesn’t need to be because a lead magnet needs to follow some key points around being easy to consume.

It’s not like you’re sending them a copy of War and Peace!

It’s something that they can implement immediately or that they can use and start seeing results. So a lead magnet does not have to be this big whizz-bangy thing. It can be a very simple offer, but something that entices that person to give you their email address.

That’s the whole point of growing your email list and building your audience is so that you can build that relationship and for them to get to know you and like you, trust you, and then buy from you if the offer is right for them.

So you do need a lead magnet because it’s a low-risk activity for your potential client. And if the only call to action that you have is to book a call, then chances are they’re gonna come into your world and then go back out again, and it’s going to be really hard to get them back in again unless you have something spectacular, irresistible and compelling to draw them in and to give them something really valuable.

I hope that has been helpful today, and let know your thoughts and comments below. And I look forward to seeing you the next time.

Love
